Welcome to Studio Dalmori. We are a relaxed, intimate studio nestled in the heart of Parkdale offering weekly classes, thematic workshops and ClaySocial parties that are all about clay. Led by artist Joni Moriyama, Studio Dalmori emphasizes the hand building approach to creating pottery and sculpture in clay. We offer classes in our light filled studio or can provide off-site ClaySocial gatherings tailored to suit your interests.

About Joni...

Joni Moriyama has worked for more than 25 years as a ceramist making one of a kind vessel and sculptural forms. She received her undergraduate training at the Ontario College of Art (now OCADU) and MFA at Alfred University in New York State. Joni has taught and currently teaches ceramics and 1st year 3D design at OCAD University since 1999. She has also worked with children and young adults as a clay instructor at the Avenue Road Arts School and the Toronto District School Board. Joni has learned that working with clay is therapeutic and tension-relieving as well as being a creative process for self expression. Parallel to her work in ceramics, Joni has practiced Ashtanga yoga for over 15 years, working with teachers Ron Reid and Diane Bruni of the Downward Dog Yoga Centre. She received her Yoga Teacher Training Certificate in 2008 and has been teaching yoga since 2010. Joni’s yoga practice is her principal support for physical and mental strength and for spiritual guidance. It has mentored her through personal challenges and growth, and she continues to modify her practice as her body matures with age.

In 2011 Joni combined her interests in ceramics and yoga with the launch of Studio Dalmori, introducing a practice called Clay Meditation. She continues to bring clay instruction on a recreational basis to the community and teaches restorative yoga on a semi-private basis. Joni and her partner Rob are avid dahlia growers and maintain over 90 dahlia plants in their front, back and side yard in Parkdale, Toronto. Their passion for dahlias blooms from July to the end of October every year.
